do you read me

tender is the thought
that my words, you’ve read
have touched your heart

that the spirit of my song
has held a wind on your wings
and you dance with me

that you judge me not
for the words I do not use
or those I do, are no less of skill
at writing songs than yours

I notice you dance
with many who sing to you
 synchronize your words,
not missing a step while
sharing  each other’s verse

I see the beauty of an azalea
as I do in a daisy
a rose is no more beautiful
than a tulip
a cardinal to a robin
a maple to an oak

embracing each other creates
a lovely painting
all smile at each other
with loving grace

for all
are beautiful
on this canvas
they all have a 'say'

Pray-tell

Oh pray-tell, what brings of this day,
a new nascence to my soul?
the new songs my friendly feathered
friends do sing about my window pane;
the wind  whistling  a Spring-like trend
a warm smile of the mother sun
in her yellow-gold apron delight,
earlier, doth arrive

pray-tell, of this also brings the wares,
the adornments of rainbow colors
sprinkled about the sleeping arboreal
and perennial cousins nesting at their feet;
it brings the snorts and squeal of the cow moose,
the yawnings in the lions den,
the running of the salmon in the streams

pray-tell, will tiny heads pop up to peek
from their leaf covered terrestrial openings
where hibernation had taken place
and now it’s time to find blueberries
and acorns and grasses for roughage
then scurry to wrestle in the neighbors nest

pray-tell, this be the season of new borne
where the sounds of life abounds;
mountainous ravines have formed
where snow capped tops have morphed
into wild running rivers and the bear
has awaken to play to bathe and find
its meal

pray-tell, all will cherish this new day
who walk along as lovers holding hands
barefoot in the grass and sand
music fills the air wher’st no room for anguish
and anger, graciousness showing to each other
the sounds of laughter, the sounds of care

pray-tell, pray-tell, pray-tell, tell me if you dare

the smile of Spring

soft and kind
the approaching breath
rearranges my being
my eyes see clearer
all of nature seems
to wear a sheen

smiles abound
I hear the hearts
they flutter with glee
although there is
pain and suffering
somewhere,  today
I bathe in it’s water

a freshness appears
In the eyes of Spring

bye, anger

Leave me, fly away
Anger

let me be with joy
a smile
it wishes

emote
without you, Anger
go away

you waste my time
I cannot see
when you stand
in front of me

you darken my heart
those around me
see you

 go away
I wish to choose
my friends
you are not my choice

Anger, you dwell on the past
you blind me
I cannot see before me

you cause much trouble
Anger
there’s no room for you
in my life

 ‘tat’ your face
upon my heart
ha! no room, it’s
filled  with love

so go away
let me be
be the demon
you wish to be
but not with me

Dance with me?

Destiny. a belief abounds
voices call it necessary
but not for me
my determinism is
my choice, I'm free

Like words on this page
that arise spontaneously
and I choose
to write them down
as I see them

In lieu of the chaos
sometimes desiring anarchy,
the richness of synchrony
and mellifluousness of harmony
ascends upon me

I choose to think of Love
of music and poetry
of those things that
have made men smile
and women dance

gently take my hand
lets sing the words we all know
remind ourselves we are one
give and share of oneself
let us dance

the kiss

shadows fall
cast down by this fiery ball
it unfurls its will upon it all
small big short or tall

It remembers when first
the rock billowed upon its path
kept it at a distance
grasping it with gaseous tips

It kissed the rock upon its lips
gave it warmth and asked its
lunar kin to brighten the night
and from the melted ice of space
to crest and ebb the tide

if it came too close
it pushed it away
cooled in the dark of space
and while it slept
borne fauna and flora
then  the human race

have there been other kisses
given in the vastness of space
and if we slight this embrace
will all be lost to chaos
never again to be kissed

don't walk away

glittering speckled flakes
falling from my face
in the sun they glisten
in the night they’re unseen
in the daylight
I turn away so
no one sees my face
at night I stand still
in the dark
breathing quietly
if at all
alone, I strum my guitar
of lamenting strings
verses floating on a puddle
of tears at my feet
some may listen to my song
but then, all walk away
I listen every morning
to my only friends
nesting upon
their arboreal lair
they never walk away
although, they can fly free
but always they come back
to greet me the next day

you tease me

you tease my desires
my lust
like a stallion running wild and free

if you wish
you can cradle me tight
slow my heart rate
with your warmth

have me,
tell me what you desire
can I taste you
as if a caramel ice cream cone

we set our time
to the stars and moon
awaken only by
the songbirds at noon

and as we part
you wear my cologne
I, your perfume

once again my mane
impetuous and wild
in the wind

I'm 'baaack'

I saunter about on an unheralded path
disheveled with  gruff on my face
the presence of apathy
a battle with dormancy
the mind travels on a path of despair

I listen to the Montoya or Segovia strings
the writ of word by friends
attend  to whay they say
words that decry their pain
embrace the joy of their choired voices
and so it pulls me out
from a daunting abyss

cupid's arrow

when the wind blows hard
I turn my back to it

if the sun shines too bright
I cover my eyes

the rains come down in torrents
I take shelter

when the chill becomes cold
I protect myself in wrappings

but

your breath can whisper its warmth
upon my neck

your eyes can glitter
the reflection of the moon and stars

your tears can rain upon
my shoulder

your arms can hold me
never too tight

of you my Love
I can never get enough

Time: para mi amiga

Time; it affords us space
to become, but it is cruel
when little to none
is provided
seemingly without care

it’s given me
fond memories,
allows this moment
and maybe tomorrow

it erodes my youth
of hours and days,
gives them to my past
now more for then
than before me

I do not lament
my stay but I do

for those who
have been given little

as victims
of time

I do resent, though,
that all I know,
I’ve seen and loved
may no longer be,
that which is me

this may seem selfish,
forgive me if you might,
but it is because
I will miss thee

my eyes
no longer to behold
the pleasure of you
when I’ve lost my request
for time

blue bird

Oh blue bird sing to me
the song, you know,
the one that tells us
of how you see us
from above

sing to us sweet, sweet
blue bird of how
beautiful tree tops look
how you must squeeze between
the clouds, the sky and mountain tops

chant the song
where rivers flow
and the moon beams
kiss the sea

tell us how the sun
unveils the day
for our kind to play

but, oh sweet blue bird
remind us if we
don’t take care of
what your eyes see
we will not hear
you sing your verse
your song

oh sweet, sweet
blue feathered friend
thank you for that song
you sang for us today

I cry, my tears

my demon sometimes is unmasked
from the hell where some thoughts reside

they ascend in raging flames
about the things I've seen
those that I have caused

I cry out in a vexing voice
those that are near me
wince in disbelief

I’ve tried so hard to control
their guttural escape in cries
they come out
in projectile screams

my tears disperse
like untamed streams

my heart bursts
in arrhythmic pains
and no ones arms
can mitigate or assuage
my sorrowful moans
that arise from within

I cry for them
for you
for me

forgive me if I lie here
in my fetal form
it will pass soon
and I’ll be free again

just hold me
tell me that you love me

I deserve it

don’t I

aster

I was going to pick
a beautiful violet aster
to give to my lover

instead, I
took her hand gently
in mine

walked her over
to see it
and we stood there

together appreciating
its beauty

the aster
stared and
waved at us
in the breeze

we all smiled

reuniting family

Souls gathered
found a common space
the seas had parted them
when the winds were rough
and the moons gave
demanding rise to the tides

if the voices would not
have howled in darkened
starless nights
these souls would not
have heard and wished
to gather again

but they did last night
and the stars came out
the seas did rise
so did the wind
the moon gave light
to this gathering

long embraces flowed
shared much lost,
even when words were'nt spoken
the eyes met, the windows opened
hearts beat in sync
the souls smiled

It was meant

kind words

sometimes callous are my words
they find my hands, my finger tips
but when you let me touch your gentle face
your eyes looked at me in silent kindness

and said…

“how warm and soft your hands are, my friend”

The Disapearance

We caress those things mundane
embrace tightly never to let them go
yet they disappear

Those that resided in it
now don’t remember
or choose to forget
those that never saw it
it never existed

My town, my childhood home
the boy with the gentleness
the girl who we all desired
they now ride upon
the horse with wings

So much has disappeared
into a ream of reveries,
memories now unseen, untouchable
I now reside in the surreal
the nebulous where my own
incarnation I question
where does it exist?

Speak to me, sing to me,
touch me let me feel your presence
tell me I am not an orchid,
that I am not a tree
but you may climb me like one
then I shall know that at least
for this moment

I exist

eternal envy

Eternity

I envy you

Love that is in my heart

joy that fills me

Eternity

                   unless you hold my hand

boundless and forever

my Love, my joy is

in a temporal shell

Love may be the window

to you

but once my soul

does walk with thee

this Love of mine

will no longer be

this is why

I envy thee

oh!

Eternity

New Year, Grand Wish

My screams my tears
muffled by cupped ears
hearts scorned, seared

Suffer little children
cries not heard
by those on mountain tops

They scourge its face
fling profligate refuse down
to begging arms

Fresh clear streams
once traversed down
to smiling faces
at its feet

Now blood-shot eyes
look up from dried crevices
in baron land

And the unfed little ones
abound, unseen, unheard
with extended hand

New year
a grand wish
that the morsels fill
the palms of little hands
