I was going to pick
a beautiful violet aster
to give to my lover instead, I
took her hand gently
in mine walked her over
to see it
and we stood there together appreciating
its beauty the aster
stared and
waved at us in the breeze we all smiled
this is what my grandmother used to encourage in her young charges. she taught a great respect for all life in this gentle way. you reminded me, today; and for that I thank you.
Gracias to all of you. I'm sure we can all remember when it was fun grabing a sister's hand or brother's or friends hand and running with them repeating while scampering toward it, "look, look and that big yellow bee on it". Ah, the innocence of youth. ...where have all the flowers gone...long time passing. :-)
Sweet!
ReplyDeleteA very loving poem!

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful and serene. This did not unfold as I expected...love the twist of taking your love to the flower. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love it - so kind to admire the beauty and leave it living. Good one, kiddo!

Appreciating beauty without feeling the need to possess. If we could teach everyone this, the world would be that much better. Great write.
